Sweep Streets Until Angels Notice: Dr. King’s Advice on Work

How do you define excellence? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., defined it by giving this example. He said that if a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.

That’s the excellence that we all search for in everything we do. It’s truly work dedicated to God.
